Magical Florals at Kew Gardens

The wonderful Kew Gardens, a historic venue surrounded by enchanting and botanical scenery, created the perfect background for Alex and Jonty's wedding this May.

Alex wore the stunning 'Iris' floral dress by Sassi Holford, which is handcrafted in delicate embroidered tulle with a floral motif. With shades of amber, cornflower and forest green, we wanted to create a hair and makeup look that complimented the dress.

For the makeup we opted for Charlotte Tilbury's Exagger-eyes pot which is a shimmering nude, cream formula, and gives a very subtle wet look effect. This was paired with a dark brown gel liner, to enhance the eyes and give definition, without the harshness that a black liner can sometimes have. You can see from the pictures below how glossy the lids look.

Next up was skin, and Alex had the most wonderful skin to work on! We kept the base fresh using the NARS Tinted Moisturiser, and used a blend of cream contour, blush and highlight to shape and sculpt the face. The Hourglass Illume Palette is our go-to for this, and is also perfect for an on the move touch up palette.

A small amount of the By Terry Hyaluronic Loose Powder was used down the center of the face, and sides of the nose using a very small blending brush. My Kitco have a great selection of professional brushes, in a range of sizes.

During the trial we experimented with an orange-red lip to compliment the hues in the dress. The iconic MAC Lady Danger was the shade of choice - this is an ideal shade for anyone with blonde hair and blue eyes as it'll make your eyes POP! However, for the day part of the ceremony, a warm toned pink was our colour of choice, and Tom Ford's La Notte lipstick did not disappoint. A creamy, slightly glossy formula hydrates the lips and gives a lovely sheen.

Luscious, floaty and romantic hair was the brief and we are so happy with the overall look on Alex. Hair was blow dried with the amazing Colour Wow Bombshell Volumiser, using our very trustworthy Parlux hairdryer and YS Park Brushes. Alex wore a beautiful beaded alice band, and we twisted her hair at the back to give shape and complement the waves.

Their day was filled with florals, botanicals and beautiful touches from Ms Bergdorfs and Palette Events, with the colour scheme running throughout. Bridesmaids dresses were a deep forest green, that married so well with the evergreens seen at Kew Gardens, with their floral bouquets bouncing off Alex's dress just wonderfully!
