The City: A Modern Editorial feat. Halfpenny London

If you’re looking for some cool city vibes inspiration and need some encouragement to wear exactly what ever you want on your wedding day, then read on to the inspiring words that follow, from talented and visionary bridal fashion designer, Kate Halfpenny.

"Something we’ve always seen from our couples, yet has only been amplified over the past year or so, is that they’re making a real decision to do things their own way.”

“I always say ‘be the bride you want to be’, and this gorgeous shoot showcases so many stunning, yet completely different looks for a chic, city wedding.”

"Weddings have changed and couples are now free from the preconceptions about what their day should look like and this extends to outfit choice too.”

“I never want my brides to think about their wedding outfit as a single-wear item.”

“These are finely crafted garments which will last a lifetime and even the big ball gown skirts can be shortened and worn again with a cashmere sweater, for example.”

“I love the super cute, puff-ball mini-skirt with the Neptune blazer thrown on top, and the cigarette pants and simple corset with the dramatic cape flowing in the breeze.”

"Brides can really show their personality in their wedding outfit so the dramatic, beaded elder dress and cape is a show-stopping look for a bride who loves to make an entrance.”

CESCA worked alongside talented Hair Stylist, Abigail Constanza; “I wanted to create a strong look in the hair by using simple shapes and modern textures.”

“I used a mixture of soft face framing and a fluffy texture to showcase Magda’s gorgeous features and a strong flick out with a wet look to create chic neckline focus throughout the looks.”

“I love the grungy look that this and the make up combined created.”

Here at CESCA, our head Makeup Artist, Carla created the striking looks for the editorial. “Minimalist and pared back, the makeup looks allowed the intricate designs from Halfpenny to shine through.”

“Gleaming skin was partnered with a gentle contour, and lips were dabbed with a sheer, soft rose stain.”

“For the first look the model wore the eyes ever so slightly lived in, giving a subtle hint of 90s grunge.”

"Inspired by the Chanel runway shows, the second look emphasised the street style aesthetic with a bold 360 liner, giving a modern and cleaner take on the popular kohl liner look."

We wanted to show a completely different take on the traditional bridal makeup. This look is all about street style and incorporating runway trends, giving yourself the confidence to try a bolder more daring look. We love how easy both eye looks are to wear. and even better with a completely natural lip you won't be worrying about your lipstick fading throughout the day.
